わや、とは広島弁ではカオスを意味する時に使われますが、イロカノ語でWAYAは自由を意味します。
そんな「WAYA わや」は来場者も参加して作られる展覧会です。

Everyday we do things, make things, and have experiences that will never come again. WAYAわや proposes an everyday rebellion against the lack of imagination of the status quo to make our minds a better place. WAYAわや invites the Hiroshima community to join us in this moment’s creation and to dive deeply into their own feelings and thoughts influenced by each of our own struggles. Join us in our daily explorations to make anting-anting (good luck charms) and experimental books and zines!

パルマリン・メルジェス
身近な素材を再利用し、制限を創造のための生成力として適応させ
ることで作品を生み出すアーティスト。主に版画、絵画、そ
してリサイクルボックスにある一般的な素材を取り入れたミクス
トメディアで作品を制作している。リサイクルされた素材を再利
用し、アートに変換することで、パルマリンは日常生活の素材か
ら取りだし、変換することでその継続的な使用に敬意を表して
いる。想像力を働かせれば、あらゆるものがアートになる可能性
を秘めている。
Palmarin Merges is an artist whose work draws from reusing
materials close at hand and by adapting restriction
as a generative force for creation. She works primarily
in mixed media incorporating printmaking, painting as
well as the common materials found in her recycling bin.
By reusing the recycled materials and trasforming them
into art, Palmarin takes from the materials of her daily life
and honors their continued service with transformation.
Everything has the possibility of becoming art if we allow
our imaginations to guide us.
レベッカ・マリア・ゴールドシュミット
場所に根ざしたアートとリサーチに従事するアーティストであり、カルチャーワーカー。
伝統的な織物、陶芸、植物療法、食物、言語の再生を通して、フィリピンとユダヤの
祖先の個人的、関係的な文化的慣習を探求している。
世代間、異文化間の学びを促進するため、地元のグループや組織と共同で活動することも多い。
彼女の作品には、ナサリメトメ（nasalimetmet）というイロカノの倹約や今あるものでや
りくりするという概念が取り入れられている。
Rebecca Maria Goldschmidt is an artist and cultural
worker engaging in place-based art and research.
Through her reclamation of traditional practices of
weaving, ceramics, plant medicine, food, and language,
she explores the personal and relational cultural practices
of her Filipino and Jewish ancestors. She often works in
collaboration with local groups and organizations to
facilitate intergenerational and intercultural learning. Her
work incorporates the concept of nasalimetmet, an Ilokano
sense of frugality and making do with what you have.
